Enhancing Educational Infrastructure at B K Palya Government Primary School

The CSR initiative undertaken by AMADA (India) Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Centre for CSR and Sustainability Excellence (CCSE) and Global Concerns India, focused on strengthening educational infrastructure at B K Palya Primary Government School, Jala Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk, North Bangalore.

Implemented from September 2022 to August 2023, the project aimed to facilitate better learning outcomes by upgrading school infrastructure, introducing supportive teaching and learning environments, and creating a conducive and inclusive space that could promote student retention and attendance.

The intervention covered several important areas of the school. Six toilets were constructed for students and staff, along with improvements to the handwash area. The Nalli-Kalli classroom was renovated with tube lights, wall fans and new switchboards, while repairs were undertaken on the classroom windows.

The school kitchen underwent comprehensive refurbishment, including waterproofing of the ceiling, installation of floor tiles, replastering of walls, exhaust fans, painting, basic electrical work and plumbing improvements. Educational paintings focusing on health were also added to the kitchen walls.

The school's outdoor environment was enhanced through refurbishment of the play area, including a sandpit and multiple play facilities such as slides, swings, jungle gym, see-saw, merry-go-round and outdoor play stations. Other campus improvements included flood-risk management and land refurbishment, tiled pathways, a painted main gate, educational wall paintings, approximately 20 LED waterproof lamps, garden maintenance, solar lights and an entrance arch name board.

Together, these interventions improved the safety, accessibility and overall learning environment of the school. The project contributed to creating a more secure and comfortable setting in which children could participate more actively in the learning process.

The completed infrastructure was handed over to the school principal during a ceremony held on September 6, 2023, attended by representatives of AMADA, Global Concerns India and CCSE, along with children and teachers.
